Westminster Q116: What is required in the fourth commandment?

A116: The fourth commandment requireth of all men

the sanctifying or keeping holy to God such set times as he hath appointed in his Word, expressly one whole day in seven;
which was the seventh from the beginning of the world to the resurrection of Christ, and the first day of the week ever since, and so to continue to the end of the world;
which is the Christian sabbath,[622] and in the New Testament called The Lord’s day.[623]

(Deu 5:12-14) 'Observe the sabbath 'Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a sabbath of the LORD your God; in it you shall not do any work, you or your son or your daughter or your male servant or your female servant or your ox or your donkey or any of your cattle or your sojourner who stays with you, so that your male servant and your female servant may rest as well as you.

(Gen 2:2-3) By the seventh day God completed His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done. Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made.
