Q112: What is required in the third commandment?
A112: The third commandment requires,
  1. (Mat 11:9) "But what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and one who is more than a prophet.

    (Deu 28:58) "If you are not careful to observe all the words of this law which are written in this book, to fear this honored and awesome name, the LORD your God,

    (Psa 29:2) Ascribe to the LORD the glory due to His name; Worship the LORD in holy array.

    (Psa 68:4) Sing to God, sing praises to His name; Lift up a song for Him who rides through the deserts, Whose name is the LORD, and exult before Him.

    (Rev 15:3-4) And they *sang the song of Moses, the bond-servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, "Great and marvelous are Your works, O Lord God, the Almighty; Righteous and true are Your ways, King of the nations! "Who will not fear, O Lord, and glorify Your name? For You alone are holy; For ALL THE NATIONS WILL COME AND WORSHIP BEFORE YOU, FOR YOUR RIGHTEOUS ACTS HAVE BEEN REVEALED."

  2. (Mal 1:14) "But cursed be the swindler who has a male in his flock and vows it, but sacrifices a blemished animal to the Lord, for I am a great King," says the LORD of hosts, "and My name is feared among the nations."

    (Ecc 5:1) Guard your steps as you go to the house of God and draw near to listen rather than to offer the sacrifice of fools; for they do not know they are doing evil.

  3. (Psa 138:2) I will bow down toward Your holy temple And give thanks to Your name for Your lovingkindness and Your truth; For You have magnified Your word according to all Your name.

  4. (1Co 11:24-25,28-29) and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, "This is My body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of Me." In the same way He took the cup also after supper, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in My blood; do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me." . . . But a man must examine himself, and in so doing he is to eat of the bread and drink of the cup. For he who eats and drinks, eats and drinks judgment to himself if he does not judge the body rightly.

  5. (1Ti 2:8) Therefore I want the men in every place to pray, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and dissension.

  6. (Jer 4:2) And you will swear, 'As the LORD lives,' In truth, in justice and in righteousness; Then the nations will bless themselves in Him, And in Him they will glory."

  7. (Ecc 5:2,4-6) Do not be hasty in word or impulsive in thought to bring up a matter in the presence of God. For God is in heaven and you are on the earth; therefore let your words be few. . . When you make a vow to God, do not be late in paying it; for He takes no delight in fools. Pay what you vow! It is better that you should not vow than that you should vow and not pay. Do not let your speech cause you to sin and do not say in the presence of the messenger of God that it was a mistake. Why should God be angry on account of your voice and destroy the work of your hands?

  8. (Act 1:24,26) And they prayed and said, "You, Lord, who know the hearts of all men, show which one of these two You have chosen . . . And they drew lots for them, and the lot fell to Matthias; and he was added to the eleven apostles.

  9. (Job 36:24) "Remember that you should exalt His work, Of which men have sung.

  10. (Mal 3:16) Then those who feared the LORD spoke to one another, and the LORD gave attention and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before Him for those who fear the LORD and who esteem His name.

  11. (Psa 8:1,3-4,9) . . . O LORD, our Lord, How majestic is Your name in all the earth, Who have displayed Your splendor above the heavens! . . . When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, The moon and the stars, which You have ordained; What is man that You take thought of him, And the son of man that You care for him? . . . O LORD, our Lord, How majestic is Your name in all the earth!

  12. (Col 3:17) Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father.

    (Psa 105:2,5) Sing to Him, sing praises to Him; Speak of all His wonders. . . Remember His wonders which He has done, His marvels and the judgments uttered by His mouth,

  13. (Psa 102:18) This will be written for the generation to come, That a people yet to be created may praise the LORD.

  14. (1Pe 3:15) but sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence;

    (Mic 4:5) Though all the peoples walk each in the name of his god, as for us, we will walk In the name of the LORD our God forever and ever.

  15. (Php 1:27) Only conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or remain absent, I will hear of you that you are standing firm in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel;

  16. (1Co 10:31) Whether, then, you eat or drink or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.

  17. (Jer 32:39) and I will give them one heart and one way, that they may fear Me always, for their own good and for the good of their children after them.

  18. (1Pe 2:12) Keep your behavior excellent among the Gentiles, so that in the thing in which they slander you as evildoers, they may because of your good deeds, as they observe them, glorify God in the day of visitation.
