Q88: What shall immediately follow after the resurrection?
A88: Immediately after the resurrection shall follow the general and final judgment of angels and men;[1] the day and hour whereof no man knows, that all may watch and pray, and be ever ready for the coming of the Lord.[2]
  1. (2Pe 2:4) For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but cast them into hell and committed them to pits of darkness, reserved for judgment;

    (Jud 1:6-7) And angels who did not keep their own domain, but abandoned their proper abode, He has kept in eternal bonds under darkness for the judgment of the great day, just as Sodom and Gomorrah and the cities around them, since they in the same way as these indulged in gross immorality and went after strange flesh, are exhibited as an example in undergoing the punishment of eternal fire.

    (Jud 1:14-15) It was also about these men that Enoch, in the seventh generation from Adam, prophesied, saying, "Behold, the Lord came with many thousands of His holy ones, to execute judgment upon all, and to convict all the ungodly of all their ungodly deeds which they have done in an ungodly way, and of all the harsh things which ungodly sinners have spoken against Him."

    (Mat 25:46) "These will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life."

  2. (Mat 24:36) "But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone.

    (Mat 24:42) "Therefore be on the alert, for you do not know which day your Lord is coming.

    (Mat 24:44) "For this reason you also must be ready; for the Son of Man is coming at an hour when you do not think He will.

    (Luk 21:35-36) for it will come upon all those who dwell on the face of all the earth. "But keep on the alert at all times, praying that you may have strength to escape all these things that are about to take place, and to stand before the Son of Man."
